This course is an introduction to the psychological foundations of learning in middle- and high-school students. It draws from cognitive theories and scientific principles to advance a strong sense of human development and understanding of how to support the adolescent learner. Topics include cognitive and cultural development, social and emotional development, intelligence, motivation, metacognition and effective communication.
This course is fully online and offered through a combination of synchronous hours as indicated, as well as two hours of asynchronous lectures and discussions each week. Students are invited to attend regularly scheduled online sessions during the listed course hours.
6 CTLE hours can be awarded upon successful completion of this course.
