Save the Date!

SVA's After School Special, the College's annual alumni film and animation festival will return the week of September 20 with live screenings at the SVA Theatre. Featuring some of SVA's most accomplished film, television, animation and visual effects alumni, multiple NYC cinematic premieres will be included. Save the date and stay tuned for complete details. Advocating for Your Career in the U.S.: Workplace Communication for International Students

This workshop for international students and recent alumni explores the communication style used in the U.S. with a focus on the U.S. work environment.

Learn how you can effectively communicate with employers when conducting a job or internship search, negotiating and getting credit for your work. Being assertive and advocating for oneself is an important aspect of building a satisfying and sustainable career in the U.S. Techniques for documenting your creative contributions on the job and as individual artists will be shared. Presenters include Yoko Anderson from SVA's International Student Office, Patricia Romeu from Career Development, and Teresa Woods Peña, immigration attorney, who specializes in the O-1B artist visa and can provide tips on how to communicate with your employers when seeking a visa sponsorship.**

You will leave this workshop feeling more confident with your English communication in U.S. work settings!

**This is NOT an O-1B visa application workshop.

Vimeo Staff Pick: Centuries and Still
Congratulations to MPS Digital Photography 2020 alumni Phuong Vo (producer) and Natcha Wongchanglaw (translator) for their work on Centuries and Still, a mixed-media short film telling the history of anti-Asian racism and violence in the U.S. The film premiered recently as a Vimeo Staff Pick and is available for the public to watch here.

A Visual Account of John Lewis' Legacy
